Help on Essay Examples!!!!!

hello. I have a hard time thinking of good examples for my essays. Usually I can't think of anything and have to resort to Martin Luther King. Can you guys give me some suggestions on good examples that work well with different prompts and why? Thanks!

Whenever I write practice essays it always helps me to think of similar experiences I've gone through (i.e., friends, family). Also, try reading books in all genres. I hope this helps! PM me if you have any other questions.

ok i noticed that you often use Martin Luther King..hes a great example but its not a good idea to use him. A couple of reasons:

1) Basically EVERYONE uses him because he pretty much works for everytthing therefore..the reader will get bored and have read THOUSANDS of essays similar to it and basically say hello to a lower score
2) Most people DON'T truly understand what MLK did..they basically know the stereotypical image and can't use specific examples about things he did so in a way..using MLK is broad

Some other examples you SHOULD STAY AWAY from
1) Hitler- good or bad..if your writing isn't clear..its going to convey the wrong message
2) Rosa Parks- same as MLK
3) religion- overall its a bad idea in general
4) Pop culture..BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD..no britney spears, paris hilton, harry potter, anything thats yah.. you'll sound SOOOOOOOO dumb..you're readers WILL LAUGH AT YOU..no offense

HOWEVER to answer your question and get some good examples..
1)READ a lot of say current events like in the NY times (even if you hate reading and find this stuff boring LIKE myself..suck it up :D)
2) Write a list of books you've read in the past two years..write who the characters were and the themes.
3) Any kind of history and like the themes of what went on
...overall you kinda want to preplan examples and find common themes..whats so great about the essay topics is that they're BROAD so you can stretch examples to work for a lot of things.

hope this helps
