<p>I am applying to three schools that use Gateway to Prep Schools for their application, and few others that do not.
What I was planning to do was to use a common TABS form, photocopy, and mail it (snail mail, that is) to all the schools separately, as my teachers aren't exactly tech-savvy and they won't be comfortable using an online form. (I read on previous threads that for the English/Maths/Principal recs, any could be used and it didn't really matter)
If I sent in the recommendation to the schools that use Gateway by mail, and using a TABS rec form, will it matter? Also, will it show on Gateway that the recs have been received?
I am completely alone in this application process as I am in boarding school, it was MY idea, and my parents really don't have a clue about this.
My school's firewall refuses to let me POST anything, only start new threads, so I am going to say THANK YOU SO MUCH in advance. :)
Cheers to all other applicants for 2013-2014!</p>
<p>PS: One more question; how do you request school transcripts/reports? I am completely lost. Please have mercy and help. :(</p>
<p>Requesting transcripts is generally done through the school office (at your current school). </p>
<p>At our kids’ day school, I’m pretty sure the head of school serves as the point person. Note that (at least in our experience) your current school sends the transcripts/school report DIRECTLY to the schools to which you are applying…you do not see any of that.</p>
<p>I’ve been told that you can use the TABS recom. form no matter what other general app form you are using. Not sure what Gateway will show…</p>
<p>Also, a lot of boarding schools have a form called a “transcript release” which you download, sign, and then give to the appropriate person at your school. It asks them to send your transcripts to the schools you are applying to. </p>
<p>good luck!</p>
<p>At our dd’s former school, the registrar was the point person for transcript requests. That school was small enough that the registrar just asked us to provide a list of schools and addresses. No “release of transcript” forms needed – though we saw them on schools’ websites as well.</p>
<p>As SevenDad noted, transcripts go directly from your current school(s) to the schools you’re applying to. If you want to know what the schools will see, you can request an unofficial copy for yourself.</p>
<p>Gateway is such a great way to turn in apps isn’t it?</p>
<p>Is it okay to post links in the “Additional Information” section for the applications? If not, does anyone know of another place to add them? Sorry, I’m kind of clueless.</p>
