So many essays, my daughter has a spreadsheet!! Not to mention the recommendations and school reports. . . on that note, some schools only partially use the Gateway to Prep school site (pretty much for just Part one of the application but they are members of Gateway). Our admissions officer at one of these schools told us he would accept the common recs/school report, but does anyone know how to request them from Gateway? There is not even a phone number on their site. Has anyone done this before? Thanks!
I asked my teachers to complete the Gateway form and send it to those other schools (either give them an envelope to print + mail or have them email).
I’m all too familiar with those spreadsheets.
Yes, the spreadsheet is way to go or any other productivity tool you are familiar with.
I remember only after you submit Part One student profile, you can start working on Part Two. There, you would fill in recommenders’ email addresses. The Gateway will directly email the teachers the letter request.
We asked the teachers to save their letters in PDF format when they were done on Gateway. For the schools that were not on Gateway, we asked the teachers to email the letter PDF files (and school report and transcript etc) to the admission office at admissions@yourschool.org etc.
You can download all Gateway forms from https://www.gatewaytoprepschools.com/resources. If that’s what you were asking… Or maybe I misunderstood.
Thanks for your responses. @payn4ward, I read your post and then emailed our teachers to please save as PDF so that they csn email the school’s admission office. At the same time, I had a little email interchange with Gateway to Prep Schools (he answered me back at 8:00 PST, weird!). He informed me that X school would not take their recs. When I responded back that X school would indeed accept them, and then asked them if they could somehow forward them through their system (we actually did this last year with SSAT), they then told me that they could not ) due to “privacy and security reasons.” The customer service (all email) rep also told me that our teachers will not be able to save the form as PDF, and that we will need to print them out separately and have the teachers mail them to the school, as @stargirl3 did.
FYI for anyone else out there. Wish that this year’s schools weren’t using Gateway. More essays and less help from the (not so) common app folks.
@itcannotbetrue I can believe that for the schools not on the Gateway or only on it partially, Gateway cannot forward the letters.
I don’t know how our teachers exactly did it after getting our instruction. They emailed the letters to the schools and all made it. Perhaps they printed it and scanned it. Or they did screenshot and sent it. The teachers figured them out.
For Part 1 and 3, if we do preview, PDF files are generated and can be saved. Thus I assumed if the teachers do Preview, PDF files would be downloaded and I think that’s the case. but since I’m not the teacher, I cannot confirm.
Our application was almost 100% electronic, nothing was mailed.
Mostly because our school went digital all the way. The registrar emailed transcripts in PDF format.
