HELP on narrowing down list of colleges!

<p>Hello CC users, I am a rising high school senior from Ohio. I am in the top 10% of my class, have a 30 ACT, great EC's, and I am president of student council. currently I am having trouble narrowing down my list of colleges, and any advice would be much appreciated.
I want a school that:
-is academically rigorous
-is in close proximity to a major city
-is mid-sized to large
-has strong programs in areas of interest (business, communcations/PR, psych)
-has a sense of spirit (not an "all i do is study" school)
-has diversity, not just all upper class preppy white kids </p>

<p>So far my list of schools consists of:
-Ohio State- my safety, however I worry about the large focus on sports and party reputation
-Northwestern- top choice
-DePaul- slightly concerned about academic rigor
-University of North Carolina
-University of Dayton
-University of Pittsburgh- also worry about academic rigor
-New York university </p>

<p>These are the ones i am slightly interested in. any feedback?
-Saint Louis University
-Washington University in Saint Louis
-George Washington University
-Boston College- worried about reputation of low diversity and conservatism
-Northeastern University- heard there is a lack of school spirit
-University of Wisconsin- Madison - I feel like this would be similar to ohio state
-Fordham University
-University of Pennsylvania </p>

<p>Any other recommendations? THank you so much. I'm sorry, I just really need help narrowing down my list. It grows and shrinks every day.</p>

<p>Muhlenberg College</p>

<p>I’ll inform you now that North Carolina has tons and tons of preppy white kids.</p>

<p>Take a look at the U of Minn has everything you say your looking for.</p>

<p>etuck24 maybe op could go to North Carolina A&T that might be a better fit in the same general area as UNC
[Excellence</a> - North Carolina A&T State University](<a href=“http://www.ncat.edu/excellence/index.html]Excellence”>http://www.ncat.edu/excellence/index.html)</p>

<p>LOL. Not too many preppy white kids at A&T, that’s for sure.</p>

<p>On a more related note - your criteria are contradictory. You worry about Ohio States focus on sports and academic rigor, but in your criteria you want a sense of school spirit and not a “all I do is study school”. Pretty much all of the Big 10 schools are fantastic educational establishments with lots of fun opportunities and school spirit. I don’t think you could really go wrong with one of them.</p>

<p>I would second the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.</p>

<p>Wash U superscores the ACT- may help you if your highest composite was 30.</p>
