is there anywhere that i can find out what classes i should be taking my first semester at berkeley, or a list of all the pre-reqs i have to finish? i'm in the pre-business major.

I'm not sure what breadth or the pre-reqs are for business, but this is a helpful site for dealing with L&S breadth requirments: http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/requirements/lsreq.html . In case you end up switching majors (deciding not to do Haas) it will help that you know these, too.

Oh! And I forgot this - http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~amanb/makeSched/
It helps a lot; it's directly linked to the berkeley schedule of classes so that you can organize your schedule. finaldistance.berkeley.edu is also another one, but I don't know if it's working anymore or not...

wow it's kinda confusing @___@

so basically i have to take 7 GE classes before i graduate, and also the pre-reqs for my major?

are there any classes you recommend i take freshman year? i'm not sure how many classes to pick, or how to pick them so that i get a decent (but not crazy) workload. hmmm.

L&S has put together a website that guides you with choosing classes. It basically asks you what majors you are considering and what requirements you have already satisfied. Then it gives you a list of all the possible classes you can take, and if certain requirements overlap or whatever. This is definitely helpful if you do it before CalSO, so then when you meet with an adviser, you already have an idea of what you want to take.

I haven't seen anything like that for Environmental Design.... I mean, I can check the catalogue and see what REALLY interests me before hand, but is it ok to go into CalSO without a strong idea of what I should be taking? I don't want a particularly difficult first semester...

I don't think you need to know exactly by Calso. You've got a lot of time to figure out your major. Def try to get some breadth requirments out of the way though. If you have to do RIA or R1B, do it now. BUT, don't take all writing courses/all math courses your first semester. I made the mistake of taking R1B, philosophy, history and comp gov my first semester - a bit too crazy (granted I was an extension student so my choices were limited).
Take some cool courses like Astro 10 (I think it's 10? It's the Astro intro course.) or Physics for Future Presidents (Physics for non-science people), those are popular. L&S has "discovery courses" which are usually really interesting courses. A good tip is to sign up for 5 classes, then drop one (or two) depending on which professor/class you like best.
Hope this helps!

I'm confused I am going to be applying for Haas my sophmore year...I looked at the prerequisites for Haas and its only around 5 class. This may sound stupid but do all Berkeley freshmen have to fulfill the 7 breadth requirements also in addition to those required by your major. What classes do undeclared pre-business students take before they enter Haas?
