Your parents are going to pay the full bill the first year?
What will happen if your transfer fails?
What state are you in? International?

From what I have read, it is really difficult to transfer within the UC system. It is much easier to transfer into UCLA, Berkeley from a community college in California. If you are in California, look into community colleges. And there seems to be a lot of discussion on CC on how to transfer into UCB, just search for it, one example: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/319450-ucsd-vs-uci-please-help.html

Not sure, if it is a full bill, go with UCSD

Yes, you only lose the deposit.

I can’t say about UC, but for the two individuals who have transferred into Duke that I know, both had 3.9+ GPA first year at schools on the level of UCSD. Transfer into schools on the same teer probably would require the same kind of GPA.
