HELP PLEASE: recommender must be from my home country?

Hi!!

I have a question regarding international student's recommendation letters:

I spent one year as an exchange student in the USA and I think that I have a closer relationship with teachers from my American school than I do with teachers from my home country. Therefore, I asked two American teachers to write me recommendation letters. However, I have recently been told that I must have a recommender from my home country.

Is this information correct or is ok if my two recommenders are American teachers?

Thank you!

It’s perfectly okay for you to get letters of recommendations from teachers at a former school. (In fact, colleges might even prefer American letters because they are easier to interpret.)

If you are really worried, why don’t you email a few colleges to confirm?

b@r!um

What you said makes a lot of sense.

Thank you!

And I did email them, but I haven’t received an answer.
