Help please - struggling in Pre-Calc honors

I am a sophomore currently taking Pre-Calc honors. I am struggling quite a bit in the class. I am at a new school as well. Most of the students have learned material last year that I haven’t. My teacher suggested that I drop down to Pre-Calc advanced to save my GPA. This means that I can’t go straight to Calc BC next year. In this case, I would be doing Calc BC my senior year. I currently have a B- in the class and my last three tests were 81, 82, and 85. I am working very hard, but it doesn’t seem to be paying off. Any advice? tips? Thanks in advance!

Follow your teacher’s advice & transfer to pre-calculus.

Transfer to Precalculus advanced, take calc AB junior year and calc bc senior year, basically at most schools it’s the most rigorous path. No need to take bc as a junior!

If you took Pre-calc this year, could you take Calc AB next year?

If so there is nothing wrong with that! That is still beyond the “normal” math curriculum.

Otherwise get a tutor, start looking at Khan Academy videos, and do many practice problems.

precalculus → calc AB-> calc BC is a very strong sequence. Precalculus-> Calc AB-> stats is also a strong sequence (less mathy, but still perfectly fine even for top colleges).

This is an old thread but in case anyone else is reading it for reference…
Follow the teacher’s advice. Calc BC is HARD and you want a strong foundation.
