Help please? Transfer chances...very worried. : (

Hi, I am a freshman student at an international college, and I am thinking of transferring. I applied to schools last year but didn't get into any, since I was only allowed to apply to 6 colleges per country and asked for aid, and applied to top-tier schools only (I just made my safety in my home country, which is still a good school). But now I realized I REALLY want to get out of my country, I've been stuck here forever : (

My HS gpa was over 4.0, and SAT's between 2000 and 2100. (All of my SAT II's were over 700.) I had consistent EC's and awesome recs from my teachers I also got realy high grades on AP and IB (second-highest diploma score in school this year).

Now, I'm sure my college GPA is between 3.75 and 4.0 (probably 4.0, gonna get my grade report in a few days), and I'm going to start working for more volunteer organizations educating people with not enough money and hosting charity concerts, but I'm still worried about transferring.

These are the schools I'm considering:

University of Chicago
Dartmouth College
BC
NYU
USC
Claremont McKenna
Tufts
Northeastern
BU
Loyola Marymount U

What do you think of my chances? Which colleges seem like matches/safeties/I can get in?

I want to get into the college of liberal arts for all of these schools. I want to so major in something along the lines of Development Studies/Human Development and work for an NPO, but also want to take advantage of the big-city setting and do some stuff with the arts (I love music).

I know I have a good GPA, but I'm worried about transferring because of my faliure last year.

I'm also worried about my professor/dean recs (just started, so I don't know anyone too well) and choice of courses (none of the science courses are in English this term, but I'm taking 2 physics courses next term). I have spoken to them, though, and know I work hard.

I’m mostly familiar with the west coast schools. CMK and LMU are likely matches. USC a slight reach.

I don’t see any solid safeties on your list. You probably should try adding one or two of those.

How much financial aid do you need? Some top schools don’t even offer any for international transfer students.

are you an American citizen at an international college, or an international student?

NYU doesn’t offer ANY aid to international students.

I don’t need any aid…I can pay for all my time at the college.

What are some transfer “safeties”?
