HELP PLEASE!!! University of South Florida--room and board

I was wondering do I have to pay for a meal plan if my financial package includes room and board. I was told that everything such as tuition would be payed off first and whatevers left would go to a meal plan. Can anyone who knows about room and board or especially a USF help me understand do I need to pay or not?

Have you picked your meal plan yet? If so than you should see the charges reflected in your oasis. Since you haven’t registered for classes yet your current statement for the semester will not be finalized yet. After you register at orientation pop in and meet with your FinAid counselor and look over your charges and credits together. No sense in freaking out just yet. :)

Your room and board is included in your meal plan. Your meal plan must be paid before you move in otherwise…you can’t move in. You can pay in full right now, be put on a payment plan, or defer payment until your FA comes in at the beginning of the semester. I’ve just decided to defer my payment. I’m sure I’ll have at least $2150 after my charges are paid. In order to defer your meal plan you must have a minimum amount of $2150 in your student account so that your meal plan and books and be for sure paid for. Deferring costs a non refundable $25 and is not guaranteed.

Charges don’t come out until mid July so if you have a orientation date before then you can’t really do much.

Tuition, then Room and Board, then Fees, then your Meal Plan and Books are paid for in that order I believe.

so if im not sure i should just start on the monthly installment plan & then switch to the fa package if enough is available?

Do the $25 deferment now if they’ll allow you to so you don’t have to lay out more money right now upfront for your meal plan obligation. Reevaluate your financial situation closer to when school starts and all expenses and your financial aid are finalized.

I second what lizard said. Do the deferrment. The worst that can happen is they say you’re not deferred and they want to know the payment of your meal plan in late July.
