Help! Question about teacher recs!

My teachers asked what I would like them to emphasize. What should I tell them? Should I tell them to emphasize my passion? (though that will already be quite apparent in my essays, ec's and awards). Should I tell them to emphasize my personality in the classroom? What other things should I tell them?

Frankly, teachers should never have to ask you that, because from what I've seen, teacher recommendations have somewhat specific prompts. They also have a scale with which they rate your performance and your performance in the perspective of that teacher's career (top 1% - best in career, top 10% very strong, top 30%, above average, all the way down the spectrum).

If they are asking you to emphasize something very specific, like an independent project you did advised by the teacher, or a community service project, then that is reasonable, but what you are asking should really not be necessary as far as what I've seen colleges provide for teacher recommendations. Your teachers, if you are expecting a good recommendation, should really know what makes you stand out.
