teacher rec problems...

I'm kind of nervous about asking some of my previous teachers to write my recommendations... I'm not saying that they won't have any good things to say about me - what I'm saying is that I'm pretty sure not many of them can write well.

How bad would it be for me to ask a teacher who would have a lot of good things to say about me to write one of my recommendations if he/she couldn't write too well? Would that just look really bad?

Also, I switched schools between my sophomore and junior year so while many of the teachers at my old school were actually intelligent, I feel like they might not remember enough about me to write a good recommendation - especially since I haven't really even seen them since then. Should I still ask one of them though?

I think colleges prefer Junior / Senior teachers to write recs, unless the Sophomore teachers still know you relatively well (do you still communicate?). If they can’t write very well/ don’t say anything “remarkable” about you, it is okay, your app will not be judged any worse. That said, it won’t be judged any better either. I think. Schools won’t blame you if teachers can’t write very well, as it isn’t your fault. Unfortunately, I don’t see anything else you can do :frowning: Just my opinion, good luck

you are definitely better off with a more recent teacher who isn’t as strong a writer. Schools are not looking for well written recs. They look for the substance.
