Help! Should I drop BC?

So the 1st semester is ending and I'm pretty sure I'm getting a D in the class. But all my other classes (3 other AP's included) I'm getting A's. SO it's not like i'm slacking.

So at this point should I go to AB next semester and get a likely A rather than a possible D or C for BC?

Are you positive that dropping down to AB would be a quick and easy solution – if you’re maintaining a D in BC, why do you believe AB would be so much easier that you’d be able to bring it up to an A? I’m not acutely familiar with the disparity between AB and BC (other than BC is AB+some additional topics) but I don’t think the gap is so large that you’d excel at AB and fail at BC. Have you considered tutoring?

BC isn’t simply just a few more topics. It’s at a way faster rate. I’ve already completed the AB curriculum in BC so there’s that. Furthermore the teachers for AB at my school are much easier than my current one.
I had a close family member suffering from illness which is why I haven’t been able to devote time to BC. Will colleges understand this considering my other grades?

They will most definitely understand. Many colleges ask if you have had an adverse experience and will allow you to explain low grades. I’m taking BC right now actually. I think you should keep going. Finish strong, and colleges will see that you didn’t quit when times got tough! Good Luck!
