Help!! Should I switch to AP Bio instead of AP Chem?

I’m heavily considering dropping out of AP Chem. I study and try so hard in that class to only get a C on tests and quizzes. I have a 81.16% in that class right now. I’m mentally exhausted from frying my brain. I’ve tried this and that, trust me. I even talked to my teacher and he gave me reassurance, but it’s not working. I think he made a mistake recommending me for AP Chemistry even though I got an A in honors chem. He considers a 88% an A in his class and rounds it to a 90% but at this rate, I won’t even make it there. I can’t handle getting a B or a C on my transcript. Here are the other classes I’m taking right now as a junior in HS.

APUSH
APES
AP LANG
Alg II H
French II H

With that being said, I want to switch to AP Bio. I know the teacher, it’s the same one from my freshman year of biology honors. I got an A both semesters but that was also for Chemistry so lol. I think the AP Bio teacher teaches differently than my AP Chem one though. I’m not sure if AP Bio would kill me equally as AP chem or even harder, maybe even less? It sucks because I seriously read that AP Chem book like a bible every day prior to the week of testing and thought I did fine on the tests, but got a C?! I don’t really know how to describe my learning style. I guess my style is more read the book and memorize, or listen to lectures and take notes. For example, I’m horrible at math. I’ve only been great so far because my teacher this and last year were amazing.

My AP Chem teacher is good, but he talks about a topic vaguely then gives us like 5 worksheets. At home we have to self study. I do everything I can but it’s just not enough for some reason? Seriously, the only people getting an A in those classes are the naturally born prodigies who just soak up the information quickly. I actually have to try to be smart and it’s not enough for AP Chem.

Any thoughts? Should I switch to AP Bio or keep on fighting in Chem? Or don’t switch to AP Bio but switch to AP Psychology?

Learning how to handle a single B on your transcript is good life experience and will not hurt you for college admissions. You should tough this one out.

There are some great chemistry tutorials on YouTube. Look for Bozeman Science and Tyler DeWitt’s channels. You should also be asking questions in class and after school when you know you don’t understand something.

Being able to not panic in a tough course and knowing how to seek help are valuable college skills to build in high school.

yeah I do ask him plenty of questions :frowning: but thank you for your input!

Khan academy is a good resource too.
