So for the Common App, I had an essay about music in the short answer "Elaborate on your extracurricular activities" that I was going to modify and use for the "What matters to you and why" supplement for the Stanford App, and create a new "elaborate on ec" for Stanford about a different EC activity.

Today, I finished the supplement (it is a hell of a lot better than the EC essay) and when I went to Common App, I saw that I had already sent the Stanford app about a month ago with the original music EC essay on the main common app part!

I really like how the new supplement turned out, and it has many additions to the first essay, but the two are the same in many sentences. Would it be okay to still use this essay as the supplement? I really have no idea what else I would write about... help!!

To help gauge the difference: The common app EC essay is 1000 characters, and this essay is about 1700 characters.

Note: I was accepted EA to Princeton, as I think the rest of my app is pretty strong. This would be the only thing... Could this cause them to not even look at my application?
