Can i use this section for an additional essay ?

I suppsoe you could if you wanted to, even though they dont ask for one. i used it for additional extra curriculars and some explanations.

If it's a supplemental "Why us?" essay or maybe even an expansion on the extra-curricular short answer, sure. If it's a ~ 300 word letter to the adcom that's neccesary, go right ahead. But if it's just another essay, I'd suggest work on modifying your common app essay. If you think you need to say something more, think about other types of extras, like arts supplement, a 1 page abstract on research (I don't know your background). ;)

No its not really a why us essay or an EC explanation. In fact its not really short either, its about 700 words.
But i absolutely love the essay - its an essay about the subjects i want to study, what interests me about them, why i wanna study them etc. (written for the UC application).

The Harvard supplement to the common app has a section which allows you to submit additional essays, but the other colleges have no such provision.

How do i go about it? Please help because i really want to send this essay.

you could just call up the admissions office and ask if its perfectly fine. i have no familiarity with the UC system but I'm sure it'd be okay.

thanks

Anyone else?

Send it under separate cover by snail mail and ask that it be put into your file.

Are you sure thats ok chedva?
or could i email them and ask them to put it into my file ?

Call them and ask which they'd prefer. My guess is that e-mail is more likely to be misrouted or simply not printed out to be added to your file. Particularly if there's a hard-copy supplement as many schools have - staff is used to opening and filing snail mail.
