I was accepted to both UChicago and Georgetown I know that Chicago has the most amazing professors (esp. for Economics–which is what i want to major in… with the nobel prize laureates and all) but for undergrad is it really that big of a difference? i mean, i was all set on georgetown, but then when igot accepted to Chicago, people started telling me to go there instead. I live in PA so it’d be easier to go to D.C. (not as far). I’ve been to G-town before, but have never ever visited Chicago.
any suggestions?
[thanks in advance]

Hi! I'm a junior in high school and I'm also from PA...I am considering both UChicago and Georgetown (among other schools) and I have visited both. Here is my humble opinion:

UChicago seems to be much more focused on the intellectual pursuits...the love of learning is above all else. Students are more focused on studying a subject they love and on improving their minds than on landing a career.

Georgetown is heavily affected by its location: many students enroll there hoping to make good connections in Washington. The campus seemed very politically charged. Each student has a cause and he is focused on his career.

Of course, this is all greatly generalized.

I hope this somehow helps.

Please let me know if you'd like more info or if anything I said is unclear (which is probably the case).

Good luck deciding!

:)

Hey!
Everything you said was really helpful, thanks! I know that Georgetown is a really great school in and of itself, but so is U.Chicago, and i suppose my real issue is trying to decide which is better for me in teh overall picture. UChicago has amazing economics professors but Georgetown has the location, the proximity to my own home, and the ready availibility of internships and opportunities that you cant get anywhere else besides in D.C.

Ohwow.. a month is definitely not enough time to decide!!
