I went to a workshop at UCI not to long ago and they said in this prompt they want to know “what do you want to be when you grow up and why”. However, I am not entirely sure what I want to major in. Is there another approach I can take to this prompt. Thanks for the help!
You can write about how your background has shaped more than one interest. Your “dreams and aspirations” don’t have to be only career goals either; what are some things you want out of your time at college, or out of life in general?
One approach is to note one or two things you really like to do in your free time. Why do you enjoy those type of things? How has family/community/school led you to those activities or influenced them? Based on those activities, what sort of things do you think you would enjoy doing in the future?
You can talk about the kind of person you want to be, instead of the job you’ll be doing.
