Hi!

I was accepted into both Berkeley and UCLA last week:

Berkeley for Immunology
UCLA for Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology

I'm thinking about going to medical school (strongly wish to), but if I decide not to pursue med, I will go to graduate school.

Which school is harder to be successful in? Does anyone have any personal experience? Please help!

P.S. I like both campuses, and I like the fact that Berkeley is liberal, and I really like LA.

Are their overnight admit days in both places? Maybe you can attend those?
where do you live geographically? Would you want to come home during weekends…or at least want that choice.
Doesn’t UCLA have the med school right there?

One of the things I find in these kind of posts and when you post it in the college board, people here are going to support Berkeley overwhelmingly and over at the UCLA board, it would be UCLA.

As for hard/easy…any place is hard as someone pointed out in one of the threads below, if you are a top student and willing to put in the effort and work, you will do well…no place is going to be easy academics.

Go to Cal for Pre-Med then UCLA for Med school? =)

Pick ucla if you want a better GPA and a more fun experience

Pick Berkeley if you want a slightly better education (but lots of stress and grade deflation)

^ Not necessarily true, even for a premed student. Visit both schools and talk to the major/pre-med advisors to find out more about the bio programs. Most importantly, you want to get a feel for the campuses, culture, and surroundings. You’ll be spending your next 4-5 years in that environment, and if you work hard you’ll be able to maintain a good GPA at either school.
