Help urgent!!!!!

So, I am applying to Northwestern PLME. I just realized that my English teacher nor my counselor have sent in their recommendations. I talked to my counselor and she said she mailed it in instead of sent it electronically. Is that ok? Also, when it says it is due on January 1st, 2014. Is that tomorrow at 11:59 or tonight? Thank you so much. Any help is appreciated!

You mean Northwestern HPME? Brown offers the PLME program.

You should be fine. My theory is that there are so many people who forget to send something in (there must be hundreds) that something coming relatively on time but still a little bit late isn’t the end of the world. It’s not going to help you obviously, but I don’t think it is going to break your application.

By January 1st, 2014 = tonight at 11:59
On Janaury 1st, 2014 = tomorrow at 11:59, but I was always too paranoid about this when I applied so I always sent everything in by January 1st.

I emailed Rice because their deadline is listed as “by January 1st.”

They replied and said the actual deadline is 11:59 PM on January 1st. (But recommended submitting earlier, of course.) I’m sure Northwestern is the same.

Let this be a lesson that if you want other people to do things for you, you give them artificial deadlines. I’m absolutely serious. Let them think it is December 15 instead of January 1.
