I am attending community college. In first year, I got D grades on english composition1 and college algebra because I was from non-english speaking country so english was the problem. Except the 2 courses, I got A from most classes and I repeated the 2 courses again last spring. so I thought my gpa is 3.9x but I heard shocking news from my friend that USC calculate average gpa regardless of repeated courses. If this is true, my averaged gpa will be around 3.5. With 3.5, I can't even expect to be accepted from USC marshall. Is this true? USC really averages old grade and new grade even though it is repeated? I am so panicking

And does any of schools below average all grades from repeated course?
cornell, vandervillt, carnegie mellon, wsu, emory, uva, unc, ann arbor

Yes, USC does average in the repeated courses. However, I don’t think college algebra is considered a transferable course so it might not be averaged in. Find out for sure.

College algebra was a basic math couse that must be taken before calculus 1. If this course is not a transferable course, then my gpa would be about 3.7x. Still too low but better than 3.5! I should ask this to USC. Thank you!!

It won’t hurt to send USC an email to verify. USC does average repeated courses, even old courses. I think the only time they don’t average is if you had a C or better and retook the course to get a higher grade. I think you would get credit for only the earlier grade. College algebra is a transferable course. I’m looking at my TCR now. I don’t know about the public schools, but I’m almost certain the private schools on your list do.
