So can anyone help me with my list? I plan to major in engineering (probably chemical or biomedical).

I would suggest looking on ■■■■■■■■■■. It’s a site that lists ALL of the colleges and Universities in existence. It also allows colleges that have your intended major to contact you and let you know about their program. From there you can access student reviews, tuition and Fees, etc. It’s a legit site, and has broadened my list of colleges IMMENSELY over the past few months. Also, try Googling “Best Engineer Colleges U.S.” there will be plenty of good results there. Hope this helps!

Both John Hopkins and Carnegie Mellon are very selective colleges. I don’t recommend that you consider them as “match” colleges. Are you thinking of applying Early Decision to either? If you apply ED to JHU your legacy status may prove helpful.

Possible “match” colleges in your proposed major are some of the larger state universities. Some (e.g. Purdue, University of Texas) are considered stronger than University of Maryland. Several of these universities have impressive chemical engineering programs. A good college guide would point you to them.

I agree with fogcity. I would try to find other universities that you can also apply to. Although your stats are pretty good, it can’t hurt. For ex: Drexel, UMich, Northeastern, etc.

JHU is more selective than Cornell
