A Reasonable list of colleges to apply to?

Given my stats (see below), does this seem like a reasonable list of colleges to apply to?:
Cornell, Princeton, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, Rensselaer Polytech, University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, University of Maryland- College Park.

I plan on majoring in chemical engineering, and then going to graduate school for biomedical engineering. Does it seem too "top-heavy"? Should I add more schools (I plan on starting the applications the day that they come out, so I think I could handle applying up to 12 schools)? Does anyone have any suggestions of other good engineering schools?

• Objective:
o SAT I (breakdown): CR-770 M-770 W-770 (total-2310)
o ACT: did not take
o SAT II: Math II - 800, Chemistry - 800, World History - 800
o Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
o Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): top 5%
o AP (place score in parenthesis): Computer Science A (5), US Government and Politics (5), Calculus AB (), Chemistry (), English Language and Composition (), World History () => I definitely got 5’s in chem and calc, and probably 5s, maybe 4s, in WHAP and english
o IB (place score in parenthesis): none
o Senior Year Course Load: Biology AP, AP Calculus BC, Differential Equations GT, AP Physics C Electricity & Magnetism, AP Human Geography, French Language and Culture AP, AP English Literature
o Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): none…
o Minor awards: National Merit commended, AP scholar, Academic letter award
• Subjective:
o Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): 4 years varsity tennis (captain 2 years, #1 player 3 years), 2 years Math team (on A team), 2 years NHS, 1 year NAHS, 2 year FHS, 4 years homecoming committee, 2 years MHS (involves tutoring), 2 years gaming/manga club
o Job/Work Experience: 2 years job at Papa John’s pizza (~15 hr/week)
o Volunteer/Community service: 2 years volunteer at library (2 hr/week), 1 year girl scouts
o Summer Activities: Johns Hopkins Engineering Innovation program (counts as college credit), 2 years JTT (Junior Team Tennis – we qualified for the state championships), some USTA tennis tournaments
• State: Maryland
• School Type: public (around 1400 students)
• Ethnicity: White
• Gender: Female
• Income Bracket: middle class?
• Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): my dad graduated from JHU with an undergrad degree in physics
• Intended major: definitely engineering (probably chemical, with a minor/focus in biomedical)

Add two more very very safe safeties . You don’t want to get screwed over like me.

Looks like a good list. U of MD should be very close to a ‘very, very safe safety’.

You list your income bracket as “Middle Class.” Can you afford those schools? (Esp schools like U Michigan OOS.)

If there’s at least one affordable school you’re sure to get in, then you’re fine. UMD could be that if it’s affordable.

Minnesota, Wisconsin–both top schools in Chem Eng. and less costly. Might get money.

Looks fine to me–just make sure you have a very safe safety and you’ll be good!

Should I add MIT and Standford to my list? Do I have a chance at those, or would it be a waste of time to apply? Should I just focus on my other apps?

Looks fine but I would apply to UMichigan very early so you hear back by December. This way you have time to consider other schools in the unlikely event that you don’t get in or don’t get into the engineering program. I would imagine UMD and RPI are safety for you.

I think you have the credentials to get accepted to MIT and/or Stanford. Low reach, but definitely worth a try.

Nice list. You are competitive for any school. RPI is a safety as is UMD
