Awards-
Center for Leadership and International Relations: “Executive Board: Webmaster” – I received this award at the Junior Class Awards Assembly for my work as a member of the Leadership Executive Board. My contributions included the creation of the website for the center as well as hours of out of school preparation and planning for various center events.

James River High School: “Webmaster Award” – This award was granted to me for my leadership role on a variety of projects of which the Webmaster students were involved. I utilized my expertise of both graphics and design to tailor the works of the class into uniform and organized websites.

Virginia High School League: Leadership and Sportsmanship Summit – This was a weekend long conference in Fredericksburg, Virginia centered on the transfusion of ideas on leadership, sportsmanship, and community involvement of teens through the cooperation of high school students from all over Virginia. I was chosen to represent the Leadership Center at this event.

Virginia Club’s Champion League: Dallas Cup XXIV – I was chosen to attend this international tournament as part of the Virginia Club’s Champion League select team. The directors of coaching from all clubs in the league selected a group of 14 players from a pool of approximately 120 players to represent the league at this event.

I also am a fairly strong writer and therefore expect to have very well crafted essays.

I will be applying to all in-state schools, as my parents have enrolled me in a prepaid virginia college plan.

My applications are going to:

University of Virginia (early decision)
Virginia Tech
James Madison University
University of Richmond
Mary Washington University
Longwood Universtity

Please tell me what you believe my chances are at each of these schools.
Note that I have somewhat of a (small) foot in at UVA due to family alumni ties.

Are you a senior? Your SAT score is going to drag you down, badly; it's considerably lower than the average at UVA.

Is your weighted GPA out of 5? If so, that's another obstacle; makes it look like you are taking courses above your level, thus not being realistic (or working hard).

ECs are good.

Got scores for the AP Exams?

From what I can tell:

University of Virginia (early decision) - Reach.
Virginia Tech - Match.
James Madison University - Safety.
University of Richmond - Safety.

Not sure about the other two, but I'm willing to bet that they are safeties as well.

Thanks for your help!

I am a senior, and this is on a 5.0 scale unforunately.
My courses are certainly not above my ability level, yet I have suffered due to a lack of both effort and motivation. I have hardly ever studied for a test or quiz or done my homework at home since 6th grade. Lately, realizing the importance of college, my grades have taken an upward swing and I have A's in all my classes so far.

AP World - 4
AP US History - 2 (Disgusting.)

My SAT wont drag me down at the schools other than UVA will it? It is above the 50%tile for VT, JMU, and others.
Also I am very interested in the possiblity of attending a school outside of Virginia, due to the fact that I see myself as being capable of better than JMU and Tech, yet not capable of W&M or UVA. For the record I am interested in choosing one of two career paths. One would be a major in biology (pre-med) to work towards becoming a radiologist to utilize my interest in both science and technology. The other includes majoring in philosophy and minoring in psychology before attending a law school such as the University of Richmond.

You ought to apply to W&M; they do weigh SAT scores pretty strongly, IIRC, but your course load and upward trend will probably get their attention. UVA, a little more dubious. The other schools shouldn't be a problem.

As for outside VA, perhaps UMAB or even UMCP might work (latter is a bit of a reach, though). Also, Penn State might be worth a look. For philosophy and psychology, check out some of the LACs; I don't know much of them, not being inclined to them, but there's plenty out there.

Thanks again!

I havent considered W&M yet, but I will look into that.
I have never been too fond of the Williamsburg area, but I haven't been there in awhile so things may have changed.

Are there any North or South Carolina schools that may be a good match?

bump ! .................

BUMP BUMP bump bump
