i might be missing a few things but could you give me a general idea? i would really appreciate it. also what can i do to improve my chances of getting in to my dream schools? thanks!

what about your test scores?

You’re a sophomore with ~4.0 GPA. Of course you have a chance at those schools. A better question is can you afford them. Being OOS for UMich means you would probably pay $50K/year there, $60K/year at NYU. Is your family prepared to pay that?

YOU HAVE THE IDEAL UWC PROFILE, you have all the characteristics for applying to UWC, why don’t you try it?? here is the link that can help you.
Let me know if this was of your interest, i hope you like the UWC idea, you are on time to apply
You can also apply by your national committee and apply for scholarships it is an amazing experience just check out the page and you’ll see http://www.uwc.org/

I think there’s a bit too much uncertainty in your file to determine your chances - as a sophomore in January, you still have 3 more semesters that will be counted in your grades. You’re certainly on the right track, though; a senior with your credentials (and the attendant SAT/ACT scores) would be competitive at all of those places.

Just remember that it’s difficult to get into some of those top-ranked public universities (Michigan; UVa.) as an OOS student. Also, the financial aid will likely not be very good. NYU and Boston U are also known for giving mediocre to poor financial aid.
