Hi,
I’m currently a junior in hs, and my school’s telling me to choose classes for senior year now. I’m a little iffy on which ones I should take, and I want to hear some suggestions from you guys if possible? I want to get into UCLA, and I’m not sure what I want to major in yet.
The options are:
-EWRC or AP Lit
-AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, or Stats
-Conceptual Physics, Honors Physics, or AP Bio
-AP Human Geography or AP Comp Sci
-AP US Gov or US Gov
Thank you!
Well, it would help if you began by posting more information about yourself (ie. what you plan to major in, what your schedule looks like this year.)
Sorry about that, I’m pretty new here haha. My current schedule is AP Lang&Comp, Honors Chem, Honors Precal, College Readiness, APUSH, and Speech. I’m generally good at English, okay at math/social studies, and science is my worst subject. I’m undecided about my major, but I do know it won’t be particularly science-y. I’ve talked to a couple of people and I guess if I had to choose a major it might be media studies?
Ok, so from what you’ve said it seems that you’re leaning towards Humanities and also have a liking for math. I’m not sure if they’d allow this at your school, but I would take both Calc AB and AP Stat. Stat is a very easy AP and it helps across the board: from chemistry, to finance, to social sciences.
You say that you’re better at Math than Science, so if I were you I would probably take Honors Physics. AP Bio and Conceptual Physics are both highly conceptual with little to no math involved. On the other hand, Honors Physics is pretty much another math class.
Also take AP Gov over Reg Gov if you can handle it. Colleges like to see you challenge yourself.
Lastly, I would take AP CompSci over Human Geo, but also consider taking the Human Geo test without taking the class. If you look at past years’ AP tests for Human Geo, you’ll realize how easy the test actually is.
Thank you! I ended up picking most of what you suggested
