HELP! what major?

<p>this is sort of in the right section. i'd like to know how the following careers stand regarding job security/job prospect/future-proof-ness/pay/stability:
1.computer engineering
2. computer science vs software engineering (what's the difference?) (being a game dev would be awesome! but easily dispensable, right?)
3. CIS
4. mathematics bs major
5. biomedical engineering
6. chemical engineering
7. civil engineering
8. biochemistry
9. physics major
10. astrophysics major
11. environmental engineering
12. electrical engineering</p>

<p>is it safe to say that there is a relatively good job security in all aspects of engineering? also, since everyone can be self-taught to program,etc. would a computer science major be a waste? any info on the above list would be greatly appreciated!</p>

<p>im open to anything; however, im not too keen on researching/being a lab rat. i dont want to spend the next 30+ years of my life looking through a microscope, but then again, i’ve never had any lab work experience, so who knows</p>
