I have a tour of Andover in July. I'm planning on wearing a light pink Ralph Lauren polo, khakis, a brown belt, and black or navy flats. Is this the right choice? Should I wear a skirt instead? Please tell me what you wore on your Andover tour!

The polo is good and so is the belt. Im not sure about the khakis. Maybe you should wear a khaki skirt? Anybody else have suggestions?

Wear a white oxford with pastel shorts and a brown belt and sperrys.
Then wear a light blue tie from vineyard vines or something

Are you serious?

Harvardrox you shoul be fine with what you have planned.
I worr a skirt that didnt meet dresscode at 2 schools and i was accepted. Just make sure you look appropriate and at least try to follow dress code.
Also, i liked to go on the school website and see what the students were wearing so i would fit in. Also maybe the interviewer would see me as one of the kids already

Here’s what I’m wearing. Gray dress pants, white oxford, black belt, and blue flats. Im also wearing my hair in a bun and a pearl necklace.

wait are u a dude?
if you’re a guy do what I said and don’t wear a polo…
umm idk if you’re a girl maybe a lily dress or something

I dunno…on my interviews and tours I wore something with a little color and a little personality. My sister always wore interesting jewelry. She actually got a lot of compliments haha, and since she strug all her necklaces herself, she always had a mini conversation topic. Nothing wrong with dressing so plainly if youre a quiet, conservative person you like that look, but I think it might be a good idea to show the schools that you are more fun and interesting. No one really cares that much what you wear, but dont try too hard to look like you are just bland.

I take it all back if your blue shoes are bright blue or if your pearls are giant and interesting.

Lily dresses. Ah ha ha ha… talk about being conformist and looking like absolutely everyone else.

At Andover, wearing khaki pants is absolutely fine. As I’m sure you know, we don’t have a dress code. Wear something relatively modest, but don’t be afraid to wear some color! Best of luck on your tour as well.

Thanks so much Piccalacha, AndoverExeter, and everybody else who commented! Ok- this is what I am going to wear:
A white oxford
Navy pants like the ones used for school uniforms
Black belt
Black flats
Pearl necklace
I got everything except the necklace from Lands End or Lands End School. Since as Piccalacha said, Andover doesn’t have a dress code, I’m somewhat nervous that I’ll be overdressed. Is this all right? Could somebody tell me what they (a girl, please) wore? Thanks!

When I visited colleges with my older brother, most of the tours were as a group with other kids. Are the Andover tours conducted with a group? Sorry, this is an ignorant question.

Suggest you go to the school’s website to see how the kids there dress, then plan on being no sloppier than that standard

Could someone please critique my outfit?

PLEASE! My tour’s in two days!!! Also please answer my question! Are the tours conducted with a group?

No, the tours are not conducted in a group. It will be you, the adult that accompanied you, and the student tour guide.

YEEEEEEEEEES!!! Thanks vanillacream, I love your guts! Wait, I’m bring both my parents and my brother. Is that okay, do you think?

No worries! That’s fine. The only downside to summer tours is that your tour guide will likely be a day student, so they won’t be able to give you a full scope of boarding life. However, the interviews aren’t usually as time-constrained, so they are a little less pressure! I’ve toured family with babies, toddlers, grandparents, you name it! Bringing your brother won’t negatively influence the way the admissions office sees you. Good luck! :)

Ok, thanks!

Somebody critique my outfit?

You will not be over-dressed. Your navy/white will be appropriate…if you have a ‘colored’ small hand bag, that would add some oomph. Don’t be surprised if you see a boy on the tour wearing a navy blazer. One should dress for the occasion, with respect for the institution; that’s what you are doing. Good luck!
