Dear all,
My counselor said that I need something crazy and creative but the atmosphere at W&M is kind of traditional. What should I do? Thank you all for giving me advice..

I would suggest to just be yourself! You may have heard that others may have done something “crazy and creative”, but more than likely they were just being themselves. Do whatever you’re best at if you’re thinking of adding a supplemental. A solid well rounded application works well also. Good Luck :)

W&M is a haven for non conformists. If this matches you, you will love it.

I agree with Tiharo - be yourself! And note it is not technically a “Why W&M?” supplement (although you could absolutely use it as that)…it is an open prompt. So, for example, if you are a poet, you could submit a poem you wrote; if you are into cosmic physics and are fascinated by Stephen Hawking and black holes, write about that (as opposed to an essay on Why W&M?); or whatever, etc…

Here is the wording from W&M website:

Beyond your impressive academic credentials and extracurricular accomplishments, what else makes you unique and colorful? We know that
nobody fits neatly into 500 words or less, but you can provide us with some suggestion of the type of person you are. Anything goes! Inspire
us, impress us, or just make us laugh. Think of this optional opportunity as show and tell by proxy and with an attitude, but please restrict your
submission to what will fit on one sheet of paper.
