Nope. But I will now! Thank you!
Rust is a PITA to remove. Hope this works for you.
I have had good luck soaking in oxyclean for several days. For blood I usually scrub it with laundry detergent and water first then soak for several days in a bucket with a strong oxyclean solution. I have even gotten out blood stains that were pretty old that way. Good luck!
Thanks for the good thoughts. Her new surgery date is July 5. Glad that things were rescheduled quickly.
It might not help now, but when he first bled on the pants, oneās own saliva (spit on it) can remove a blood stain. Let H know this for ānext time? Iām not sure if this is for every fabric type but it has worked for me before.
What color are the pants?
Have you ever used salt? Moisten the areaā¦then take regular table salt and rub in circles on the stain. Iāve never done this with blood, but itās removed many many other types of stains!
@abasket, did the stain actually come out or did you hide it? Over the years when my kids created an unremovable grease stain, I sometimes sprayed an even coating of Pam on the shirt and then washed it and you could no longer see the dark spot
I soaked the pants overnight in Oxy Clean along with a pair of white denim shorts that had some dirt stains and Iām happy to report that the stains are gone!
Thanks so much for all of the advice! It was so helpful
Iām not sure I understand āhide itā??? I mean, the stain was no longer there! It wasnāt covered by another stain!!
Glad you found a solution @deb922 . That is actually our go to - a pail with water and Oxy for 24 hours. I just figured you had tried that!
Oxy Clean is my go to for organic stains like food, blood, etc. Not sure how it is on things like pen, paint, etc, but for organic stuff itās great.
I just used the Oxyclean white revive to get a hot pink marker stain out of an off-white slipcover.
z-out has worked well for us on stains. But at some point I think the stain is too bonded to the fabric to come out. If youāve put the pants thru the dryer a few times it might be locked in.
One other thing to try is to soak the pants overnite in Oxyclean, starting in warm water (enzymes and chemicals are more active at higher temps).
I had to use hydrogen peroxide several times. Used a toothbrush to scrub the stain. Rinsed, then repeated. Let it sit for awhile. Stain is gone!
Thatās what she didā¦and the stain is gone!
For blood and other protein type stains, itās essential to use cool/cold water and never expose the stain to heat of any kind until your certain the stain is gone.
As I understand it, heat from either water or air (dryer) ācooksā the stain into the fabric, making it all but impossible to remove.
