Help with AP US DBQ

Hello fellow APers, I have already taken AP World, and I remember what was needed for the DBQ for that exam, but I am not too sure of what is needed for the US DBQ in order to acquire all of the core points. From what I understand you are expected to use you background knowledge, but what about point of view? Do you need that? What specificially are the graders looking for? Thanks in advance.

No core points on the US dbq; it’s more like an FRQ that you’re expected to have sufficient outside information for and you need to use at least half of the documents to support your argument (not all or all but one like the world DBQ). Much bigger focus on outside information. No POV, no bias is necessary

You don’t need points of view or additional documents, but there is a substantial amount of outside information needed. The documents are designed to be well known figures from the course so you can easily provide outside info

there is no point of view, bias, pairing the documents none of that. think about the DBQ as a research paper that you have all the documents for. Your DBQ should be 50% outside info & 50% docs. make sure to use at least 1/2 + 1 docs. If you take out the documents from our DBQ it should still answer the question fully. Outline it like you would a FRQ & then go & put in the documents to support your argument & answer. but just make sure you use outside information & background knowledge, not just the docs. you will not receive higher than a 4 if you don’t use other info. Hope that helps! good luck!

Do you get more points for using more documents?
