Hey everyone:
I have just visited RISD today. And wow, it looks awesome! I really like its campus, it seems to be a really nice area, the streets, the buildings, the trees, definitely a good and inspiring place for artists to live. Also its programs, and staffs are great too! However, as you guys have mentioned many times that its price is not that nice at all : <

noodle if you can look up, UC Davis thread now there are like, kid posted list of UC art major and much much more.

Pratt is pretty nice too. And Parsons, wow great facility, great city location, and great faculty, but their acceptance rate is as low as RISD like less than 30%.

Ask one of the admission officers in Parsons about my portfolio, he think i should do more life/observing drawings with strong ideas, or make a website or video about it rather than just computer graphic design works which most my works have good visual effects and program skills but weak ideas behind them. So I just realized this school seems to be pretty hard to get in at least for me which require a higher standard of drawing skills, expressing ideas, and various of forms. Not sure if I will have enough time to develop all of those skills in the next two semesters… However, really like this school though

Noodlesli - Great that you had a chance to travel the northeast corridor and visit some schools. Do take their advice to heart and get to work on your portfolio. Visit schools in the fall at Nat’l Portfolio Days. Looks like L.A 10/1 but not in SF for undergrad til 1/14/12.

If you can’t stand Econ at Berkeley, can you switch to Marketing or Advertising there?

I am still worried about your desire to get into a “name” art school at all costs and am not sure how sincere you are about wanting advice. It seems more like you are fishing for support. Well, with that…good luck!

Re mom4art:
Berkeley have neither marketing not advertising major, most majors here are very academic.

I just think life is not easy with so many restrictions and obstacles. No offense, but if you think I desire to getting into those art schools is something wrong, I don’t know what to say. Again even I desire of getting into those schools doesn’t mean I can get accepted by them. I still believe the chance for me to get accepted by those schools is not very high at all. So if you may think I am sort of unrealistic dreamer or immature kid, I also don’t know what to say. I just want to give it a try and do something good to my life before it is too late and regret in the future. I still young and can’t say anything or know anything for sure but I just feel happy and passionate by finding something I love and try to pursue it. And I can’t find or foresee a perfect plan for this now, but I just know what I want and love for this current moment. Thanks for the advice.

Bummer about the majors. Sorry I sounded so harsh, noodlesli. It would be cool if a year from now you wrote to say you got into your top choice with a great scholarship. You would hear a virtual hurray from the folks here at cc. Continue to ask for advice and critique on your your work from respected schools and individuals. Get cracking on following some of it, especially drawing from observation. Critique, work, repeat. Have a plan B (or C) in case your top schools are not affordable or you decide not to put yourself in $100,000 debt. Be WISE and best of luck!

Thx a lot mom4art!
