So I got accepted into
Otis
Pratt
SAIC
MICA
SVA

but I know i
m definitely not going to Otis because it
s mostly strong in fashion and I want to go into advertising/ graphic design.

I want to make a decision by this week but I thought i wanted to go to MICA, now I`m really undecided. I saw the SVA program for advertising which seems really strong but is it a good school overall and how about the other schools (PRATT, SAIC) ? If I could get information on the schools of their programs, atmosphere, anything would be great! :)

for graphic/advertising??

iwould recommend PRATT/SVA!!!
SVA is popular for graphic design/illustration and if you love NYC, definetly go there

MICA’S STUFF ARE MOSTLY TRADITIONAL/like mostly fine-arts styleee , well known for fine arts (ranked like 4th?in fine arts)

Overall, I would say PRATT IS GREAT of all these schools overall :)

Thanks, that
s helpful! I was thinking of Pratt because I just got my financial aid and SVA doesn
t offer grants and it
s a over 1000 more than Pratt
s tuiton, so I`m definitely leaning towards there.

^ I don’t know if I read that wrong but, SVA’s tution is not $1,000 more than Pratt’s. Pratts tuition is $31,700 annually, which is $15,850 per semester.( plus that tuition is from the 2008-2009 school year, Pratt’s website didn’t update the costs…so it’s most likely more, since tuition increases yearly) Secondly SVA’s tuition is $26,800 annually and $13,400 per semester, meaning SVA is actually $4,900 cheaper! I don’t know how much the financial aid covers for both schools but tuition wise SVA is overall cheaper depending on your aid. Now room and board…that’s a whole other story man!

Obviously both schools are expensive but these are top Art schools we are talking about…I wish they weren’t so damn expensive either but that’s what loans are for…I know I’m going to be in debt but that is the price I’m going to have to pay.

Also, I would recommend SVA! Graphic design is a big major at SVA and I personally think that the graphic design major at SVA is a bit more focused and jumps right in, while pratt I think is more popular for the fine arts aspect of their institution. Both are really good schools but I suggest SVA.

Well with room and board, sorry. The estimated cost with everything including room & board, transportation, blahbla was $49,500? & Pratt was only 48,885? or something like that for everything overall.

& I feel with SVA the studios I hear are around 20 minutes away and I like the idea of Pratt’s campus and for both I got around the same amount in aid & scholarships , somewhere in the 20,000 - 30,000 range.
