Hey guys, I'm practically making a topic here every couple days, so I'm feeling a little bad about the fact that I havnt contributed much in posts, but i have a ridiculous amount of questions -

at the moment, im looking for strong graphic design schools in which i can have an emphasis or concentration in illustration (im more interested in the illustration side, but for money, flexibility, and marketability reasons, im looking at graphic design)

im keeping my eye on the following schools -

Pratt
Art center college of design
u. cincinnati
VCU
RISD
MICA
SVA

MICA and Pratt are really giving me interest because i keep hearing theyre fantastic graphic design schools, with cross major studies, and concentrations in illustration. however, i know squat about SVA. so what are the schools with strong graphic design/vis. com. design and illustration? which also has flexibility to take classes in both majors? -

Take a look at Parsons as well. Art Center, RISD, and SVA are sounding like the winners on your list so far, although that doesn't make the rest of them chopped liver, either.

Er... also, does anyone know any schools like I have described, that are relatively cheap (and terrific?)? Or that offer a fair amount of aid? This $40000 per year for all these art schools are literally scaring the **** out of me. (yes i know U. cincinnati on my list is pretty affordable)

Or is that just not possible? The cost of all the top art schools I keep hearing about again and again are making me feel a little depressed. I've heard about MassArt, though I'm not sure on how good the school is - anyways, thanks for all the input so far

Pratt isn't $40,000 per year, and they give scholarships especially if you have good grades and decent SATs. I would bet that you can get away with going there for less than $30,000 per year, which includes room and board.

If you want something cheaper, check out Mass College of Art.

ACCD is an awesome school with world class graphic design and illustrations. Alumni works at Disney Imagineering, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft and all the top game designs such as Warcraft, Rockband, etc. No fear of jobs after graduation with so many game/animation illustrators needed. But is is not cheap.
