help with colleges

HI

I just received my SAT scores and they arent too good. I got a 1500. I am going to be a senior in the fall and need to pick colleges soon. I am leaning toawrds cal state colleges but idk which one to pick. I was hoping to transfer to a UC in my softmore yr in college. Throughout high school i have taken honors and AP courses and recieved 4s and 5s on them. I am just worried about the acceptence. I am also thinking of applying to UC Berkeley, USC, UCSD and UCD. Idk if i have a chance with my SAT score so low. I hope you can help me in the right direction! Oh and idk about my major and money isnt a issue.

Try the ACT.

no. i am thinking about re taking the SAT. Hope I can increse my score!

You mean 1500 out of 2400, right?
Have you looked at any test-optional schools?
AP tests are harder than the SAT, so I see no reason you couldn’t raise your score.

I live in CA so i want ot stay in CA. and yes its out of 2400. i want to go to a school that has a good reputation and is well known.

Also, i believe the SAt was harder than APUSH or even AP lang exams

Why don’t you want to take the ACT ?

I agree that SAT’s are biased and are oriented towards people who actually would spend their time learning how to beat the test / people good at English / etc. You can compare my AP scores to people that scored much higher on the SAT and on average, they’re about 1 score level higher.

I got rejected from Berkeley fyi…

But, you should not be afraid of the Cal state schools! Which you’re in luck, in the upcoming year, you can say goodbye to the SAT as an admission factor. (HA STUPID TEST) Although money is not an issue, you can take advantage of the CSU’s and save a ton of money, and possibly go debtless–which I highly recommend, ask a lot of adults and you’ll find a lot of people in their late 30s and even 40s still in debt, probably more so coming soon, as tuition is much much higher.
Be prepared for a major that is pretty solid as well. If anything, a dentist I know recommends not to go into the health sciences / law, as it is too competitive and requires graduate school and costs a ridiculous amount of money. It’s funny how he recommends engineering to girls that wanted to be doctors all their life / have goals such as cure cancer (which he says isn’t possible) Yeah I’m going off on the major I’m doing and the less prestigious school I’m attending, but you can succeed in engineering through the CSU and if you do it right, guarantee yourself a job. They don’t really care about what college you attended, rather your experience working.

I live in Southern California and honestly if money isn’t too much of an issue try and check out some of the private schools in Cali. Most of the UC and CSU schools are so impacted that you can’t get your classes and if you do it’s with like 300 other students. Also you end up not being able to graduate in 4 years, most kids take about 6 now which ends up making you pay for 2 extra years of school.
