Hi everyone. I'm a Fall 2014 mechanical engineering transfer student, and I'm having a challenging time coming up with a first semester course schedule. My biggest issues are that I'm not sure what CCC courses will articulate, what is "too much" to take for my first semester, and that I can't seem to find E25, E26, E27 course descriptions ANYWHERE (they're listed in degree worksheet).

I was thinking E7, ME 40, MEC85, and 1-2 more courses. Thank you VERY much!

According to http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/guide/departments/me.html, “[j]unior transfer admits are exempt from completing Engin 25. Junior transfer admits who completed the equivalent of Engin 28 are exempt from 25 and 26.” I think you should take E 28, E 7, ME 40, and ME C85 this Fall. Anyway, you can discuss your Fall schedule with your advisor at CalSO.

http://www.assist.org will tell you which of your California community college courses count for subject credit.

Once you have figured that out, you can then figure out what courses are “missing” that you need to take.

Your candidate courses are whichever of E 7, 25, 26, 27, ME 40, C85, and EE 40 you do not have subject credit for, ME 132 (which just requires math and physics prerequisites), and humanities and social studies courses. If you have subject credit for some of the lower division courses, you may be able to add other upper division courses as candidates based on prerequisite completion. Of course, you don’t want to take all of these courses, but if you have more than 15-16 units’ worth of candidate courses, you can be flexible about choosing 15-16 units’ worth of them based on whether the courses are full, time of day, etc…

Took a while, but I found most of what I needed. Thank you.

@ucbalumnus One last, easy question. Do upper division course satisfy technically electives concurrently, ie all I have to do is the upper division division requirements plus a design and quantitative science course?

Thanks. Typos are due to phone.

Looks from the degree worksheet that you need the specified ME courses (102A, 102B, 104, 106, 107, 108, 109, 132) and 18 units of technical electives. The 18 units of technical electives must contain at least 15 units of ME courses and at least one design elective and at least one quantitative science (but the design elective or quantitative science can count toward the 15 units of ME courses if it is an ME course).

The sample course plan lists the 18 units of technical electives separately from the specified ME courses.
