Right now I'm a Sophomore and the only AP I'm in is AP Human Geography and I'm only in one pre-AP class :( I want to major in International Relations. Sadly, I am quite bad at science and math

My junior year classes:
Level Algebra II
Level Physics
Pre-AP English
AP US History
AP Psychology/Dual-credit business law at my community college (one semester each)
AP Environmental Science
Debate III
French III Pre-AP

My high school is extremely competitive. Next summer I'm doing a three-week studying overseas program with my French teacher, I'm taking private Mandarin Chinese classes and I'll be going to the Harvard debate tournament next February. I also am in student council and I have a leadership position in my school's Democrat club.

Will my schedule and extracurriculars let me have a shot at a decent college? Am I not taking enough APs? UCLA is my dream school. I messed around freshman year and my W GPA was 3.2, Sophomore is 4.0 (not sure about my UW soph GPA, but I know it's over a 3.0 for sure)

Thank you!!

You are JUST LIKE ME. I am going to be a Junior. My grade situation is very similar, in terms that I also am a “Try Hard”. Take no offense, but there are two people in honors classes. 70% are the people who try hard, but are naturally smart. But I, need to study hard and barely get by with like a B. Never had a C but plenty of B’s. I have taken my share of AP’s and Honors and now understand I’ve been trying to hard. I dropped some of my really hard classes like Honors Chem (highest ever grade was a 92 by some smart girl) and others… Go to increase your GPA. Junior Year is important and if you work in a good-sub hard yet easy schedule and pull off all A’s college’s will see you better then just getting tons of B’s. That is the truth as my brother is a consoler at Loyola college. I don’t think your going to be a problem getting into College but just improve your GPA to at least a solid 3.7. I totally am just like you and had a realization last week…My schedule for Junior Year is as follows.

Pre-Calc
Physics
English
AP US History
Honors Computer Science
Honors Consumer Economics
Debate Honors

My GPA is about the same as your’s but my Weighted one is a 3.7 and my Unweighted is about a 3.2. You see the difference their? It would be better to have a 4.0 Weighted and a 3.8 unweighted. You totally remind me of myself. Not even kidding. Ohh, I’ll also be at Harvard next february. Hope to see you there!

Ohhh and I took the AP’s you will be taking. AP Phsych right now is my blow off class (getting a 96) and AP enviormental I got a (89.53)<----Cluth A- Just think about getting A’s and maybe take a break.

No offence taken! Getting A’s without studying is not an innate capability I possess. I get SO MANY B’s it’s disheartening- I definitely am the person in the AP classes who has to try hard for my grade. Thank you for the advice! Hope to see you at Harvard as well! :)
