Help with my choices!

hey guys so i'm really interested into going into ibanking when i get out of college and i know some schools are "targets" so that it might be easier getting a job from one of these schools. which of these do you think will be the best option for me?

I got into Northwestern, BC, CMU, Lehigh integrated business and engineering program, UVA and UNC.

for all of the schools its going to cost about $20,000 a year, but i got a full ride to unc (i'm out of state btw) so i'm kind of leaning in that direction. what do you guys think?

uva or northwestern

UNC has a great IB placement rate, if you can get a full ride there, go there
just make sure you get into the business program and maintain a high GPA which i am sure you can handle

UNC does not have "great" IB placement rates. Certainly nowhere near what UVA and NW have. I'd say that UNC has marginal IB placement rates...they're never represented strongly in SA classes.

it is not bad
you can check their placement online on the kenan flagler website

anybody else? i'm really torn between these 3 schools (UNC, UVA, and NW).

UNC sucks for banking, even if you get into KF as an undergrad.

Undergrad B-School Rankings: Interactive Table

Cute link. Doesn't do anything for the fact that UNC is a non-target, though.

yea well i'd think ppl would assume that seeing its location

I was just proving more info to the OP
UVA, Northwestern like i said, do it!!!

i feel bad, i got offered guaranteed admissions into kenan flagler as well as a bunch of other perks from UNC but i am turning them down

UNC is non target for wall street but it doesnt mean its grads don't go into investment banking

thanks for your opinions. looks like UNC is pretty much out for me although i do feel bad turning down the full ride. what do you guys think of the Integrated Business and Engineering Honors program (IBE) at lehigh for ibanking. it looked like a good program when i visited, but i need some of your opinions.

Northwestern and UVA are miles ahead for investment banking than every other school you are considering

What he said ^

which one would you guys say is better, uva or nw? i visited both schools and liked them equally and i'm having a hard time deciding at this point.

I'd say NW, perhaps, due to it's location.

NW is great for ibing. I decided not to go there b/c it is not a fun school. The social life is a joke, as I found staying with a student host.

so you guys think i should give up my full ride scholarship to unc instead for uva which is gonna be 20,000 each year? sorry for being repetitive, i have to decide real soon and just want to be sure i'm making the right decision. i looked more into it and decided nw just wasnt the school for me.

well here is the thing

for UNC you can make it into investment banking
it is recruited but not for NYC firms

if you look at recruting like 50% work for a invesment bank
like 35% go into coporate finance or IB while others go into S&T

but most work locally like for wachovia securities and banc of america

if you want to go to NYC go to UVa or NW but UNC is not bad if you dont mind working NC

Take the scholarship to UNC. You might not even go into banking. Have fun and graduate debt free. It's not worth it unless you know that finance is something you want to do for the rest of your life.
