Help with National Merit question on college app

So, as a rising senior, I received my top scorer letter through my GC in the spring. Now, as I'm filling out my college apps (apply texas for now, though I will start working on common app soon) I've run across a couple of questions about national merit. They basically ask something along the lines of "what is the highest status you've earned in the competition" & have a drop down menu with options such as "none, commended, NMSF, NMF". My question is what do I put? I am very certain I will make semi finalist (score in 225+ range), but I will be submitting the apps before I officially hear whether or not I get it. So, at this point am I commended? Or should I just put semifinalist? Or have I earned no status yet & should select "none"? I just want to make sure that after I apply I am not disqualified from being considered for scholarships from colleges because I put that I had only reached commended or no title. & if I do put that will colleges automatically update my app when the semi finalist list comes out? I tried asking my GC but she wasn't sure. Thanks guys!

I actually had the same question to yours which I emailed and asked Texas A&M. They told me that you can either leave it and or guess if you’re fairly sure and they will check it against the list when it comes out. I would recommend contacting the colleges just to double check.

Ok thank you so much! It’s kind of a grey area so I wasn’t sure. Very helpful :)

If your score is a 223 or higher, then go ahead and put it. Actually, since you’re a Tx resident, if your score is a 220 or higher, you’re very likely very safe.

Do you have to submit your app now?

Can you ask your GC is anything has come in for you from NMCorp?

I don’t have to submit my app now, but the longer I wait, the less chance I have for my first choice major, housing, etc…so it would behoove me to apply ASAP.
And I talked with my counselor just a few days ago, & she said (as I already suspected) that I shouldn’t expect anything until September.
Thanks, I will probably just claim NMSF for now, as it would be very unlikely I wouldn’t make it
Just wanted to make sure though

where are you applying that you have to apply in August to get your major?

Texas A&M.
It is very likely that I would get my first choice if I applied later, but as my choice of major is fairly popular, I just want to make sure by applying now.
