Help with Research Portfolio needed please!!

Hey everyone,

I am a UK student. I have finished high-school, and I am on a gap year. During grade 12 I completed a research project, which was outside of regular high-school classes. This research project was marked, and given a grade (A*). My research project was on Fashion design, because I wanted to do something completely different to the subjects that I was studying.

i'm currently filling out the research supplement, and there are two questions that I don't know how to answer:

1) Has this work been submitted, presented, and/or published?*
2) In which MIT department would your research be conducted?*

How exactly do I answer these questions? Considering that my research paper was marked and graded, those this mean that the work was 'submitted'?
Also, my research project doesn't fall under any of the departments listed - since it is Fashion based. So what should I do?

I would interpret “submitted, presented, or published” to be a reference to academic or other professional publishing – if a research project has been submitted to or published in a journal or presented at a conference. So I would not interpret your project as having been submitted.

You can choose a department that your project would fit most closely. For example, you could choose History if the project had to do with the history of fashion, or Women’s and Gender Studies if the project was on women’s fashion. Anthropology might be a possible choice, or Architecture (visual art at MIT falls within the architecture department).
