Are we allowed to submit more than one portfolio if they are in two different categories? Like can I submit a maker one and a research one?

And for the research portfolio, do most people submit their whole research paper if they have written one or just an abstract?

You may submit more than one portfolio. The rules for all of the supplements are described at http://mitadmissions.org/apply/freshman/supplements

For example, for research, the website states:

Students who have worked on a significant research project outside of high school classes are welcome to submit a research supplement via Slideroom (https://mitadmissions.slideroom.com/#/Login). If you have worked on more than one research project, we recommend focusing on the project that is most important to you.

Please answer a brief questionnaire about your research and provide a letter of recommendation from your research mentor. Researchers may include a PDF of their abstract, poster, or research paper if available.

@Mikalye Thank you! It says that I can include an abstract or an entire research paper for the research supplement. I doubt any admissions counselor will read a 25 page report, but I also feel that my abstract won’t show in depth all I have accomplished. Is there a medium that people typically lean towards?

If you don’t feel like the abstract covers everything you did, then you can put that in the questions they ask. There’s space elsewhere to elaborate what you were able to do.
