I recently applied to: NYU, BC, Brandeis, Northwestern, Wellesley, Drexel, Johns Hopkins, American University, Columbia College (Chicago), Vassar, U-Mich and Emerson.

My GPA is 9.4 out of 100
I'm in the top 10% of my class . . . maybe even 5% though I'm not sure because I'm an international and we don't measure class rank where I live.
BTW my school is very competitive and very hard. Possibly the best High School in my country.

SAT I: 1840
Critical Reading: 560
Math: 620
Writing: 660

SAT II:
Literature: 600
World History: 530

(I know I bombed my SAT's. No need to remind me)

My essays are very strong. I only showed a couple of people but they all had the same opinion, plus I want to major in english and I'm a good writer.

My extra curriculars are good too... I write for my high school's news paper, I have been a member of 3 student gov. organizations (and have held positions of leadership), I have a few hours of community service, I have been part of a program that chooses the best students from a certain grade and allows them to work on a project all year (my project was writing a magazine) and for a year I went to a creative writing workshop in my school (where i was the youngest member).

My honors are all about grades.
Honor roll of best averages for every year.

I think all the colleges I'm applying to are match/reach... though mostly reach but I have no idea what would be a good safety school...

Help?! :/

Please… anyone? :(

I reeeally need help

Other Big Ten schools (Purdue, Indiana University, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin-Madison, University of Minnesota). Tulane. Fordham. University of Maryland, Boston University, Northeastern University, University of Pittsburgh.

Thank you so much!!! :)

I would think American would be a safety, or close to it. I’m not sure that B.U. and Northeastern are safeties. I read something recently that suggested that Northeastern is now harder to get into than B.U. is.

Really?? Do you know which schools would be safeties??

BU would be a match, Northeastern would be more of a safety…it is not at ALL harder to get into Northeastern. Northeastern has a lower acceptance rate but they don’t get many kids from crazy competitive schools.

Northeastern has a lower acceptance rate than BU because a lot of kids think incorrectly that it is an easy school to get into. The GPA/Test scores are indentical for Northeastern and BU.

What is your major?

What is your budget? How much will your parents spend?

My ideal major would be creative writing, but English would be fine too . . . and my budget is not a problem :)

Purdue University would be a good match for you. Where are you from?

if you’re looking into creative writing, ithaca might be a good safety since it has good artsy programs. and if you like NYU, a lot of people who apply there apply to Eugene Lang College (part of the new school) as an alternative that’s easier to get into

Oh… okay… thanks!!
