Help with SAT essay

<p>hey guys, I have my essay from the May 2 SAT, and I did not do well on it as well. </p>

<p>I want to get some critique and tips on my essay if you guys don't mind.</p>

<p>ESSAY PROMPT</p>

<p>Think carefully about the issue presented in the following excerpt and the assignment:</p>

<pre><code> There are good reasons to pay attention to people who are older or more experienced than we are, even if their opinions on important issues are very different from ours. Of course, not every person older than us is worth learning from, while many young people are. But if the only people we listen to are our age and are likely to see things the same way we do, we will miss out on something important.

<p>ASSIGNMENT:
Should we pay more attention to people who are older and more experienced than we are? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations. </p>

<p>and my essay recieved a score of 8, 4+4</p>

<p>It’s far too short. Fill up both pages.</p>

<p>An essay can be spectacular and written by Annie Dillard, but if it doen’t fill 2 pages it doesn’t get a 12.</p>

<p>Yeah, you’re right. I’m aware that it’s too short, but if I provided a third example, would it have received a 12?</p>

<p>Honestly, I HATE when people use examples from their own personal life. It’s just so easy to totally BS it. I would have gone with a historical sample, or another lit example–actually, the first thing that popped into my head was Randy Pausch’s Last Lecture.</p>
