Ok so last year I asked my guidance counselours to put physics and ap bio into my schedule but they are the same period so they just gave me ap bio. By the way this is regular physics the only one we have. So I went in to change ap bio to physics as physics is one of the base sciences and I kind of wanted to major in it or chem. So I go in and they say physics and my ap english class conflict so they can't put it in. Basically I can either take ap bio and ap english, or physics and regular english 12 which is a joke class. So either 2 aps senior year or physics with no aps and just a very easy senior year. So will no taking physics be worth it since ill have a hard course load, but won't have taken a important class. Will colleges understand? And I mean bigger named colleges like cornell, nyu, northeastern etc?

From what I understand, Physics is a very important class to take in high school. However, taking zero APs for those colleges would not really be a good idea. I would say take the APs, and maybe self study Physics. I know what you mean about English 12 being a joke, and it probably is not a good choice.

I agree with OP, yes you want to physics in high school but if it means you are taking no APs senior year and want to go to a top tier school your odds will not be good.

Physics is one of the three major sciences, and it isn’t that good of an idea to not take it during high school. Colleges will most likely frown upon that. But, since your school only has regular physics and it would interfere with other classes, I’d say just keep your schedule as it is. At least you have AP Bio, which if you score well in colleges will see that your capable of handling college-level science work and might be more lenient with the fact that you never took a physics course. Also, you would then be able to take AP English, which would also help to improve your application. Maybe try self-studying AP Physics B (reported to be the easier of the AP Psychics’) and if you were to make a 4 or 5, it would be very impressive to colleges.

Thanks for the advice, but I really hate when stuff like this happens because physics is suppose to be the next class I take and they completely ruined my schedule. I probably will end up taking ap bio and ap english, but I doubt I can self study for the physics test as I have zero knowledge of physics and am only taking precalculus this year and I thought you need calculus for ap physics.
