I am new here, so excuse me if I am posting in the wrong category. I am in ninth grade currently, and I am working on my tenth grade schedule. My strong suits are English and reading. I always test way above average for those areas. My school offers one AP class for sophomores. AP English composition and language. I don't really think any of my classes are hard in particular. I hate math, but I am getting an "A". I have honors biology and I am getting an "A". Same with English and World History. World history is the easiest class I have. Might be the teacher. Also, should I take economics now or in the 11th grade? Just this week, the whole school had to do something on economics for the juniors who didn't get economics in time for the ACT. I am hesitant because even though it is listed in the Social studies department, it sounds like math. A little side note here. Do you take math like: Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Tri, then Calculus? I have Algebra I now. Just asking. Thanks for the help! Oh, and my school of choice (currently) is U of M.

I’ve never taken Economics yet, but I’m pretty sure there’s not much mathematical about it. And the math sequence is right, but a lot of people have Pre-Calculus instead of trig, but it covers Trig anyways.

I’m a sophomore in 8+ college courses this year, so maybe I can help.

Testing well in English no longer means the same thing as it used to, and when you move into higher level English classes, that won’t be as helpful. With AP English Language and Composition, you will definitely have to adapt quickly to a completely different style of English, but it will be enjoyable. As I have found, it is fun, but challenging, to take any AP or college course.

As for Economics, I am currently in 2 UConn Courses and the AP course for it, so I’d highly recommend you don’t take it as a sophomore. Yes, as the above poster said, it has nearly no math, but the concepts can get very confusing, and in the college level course, I am the only one, in a town of 120k people, to have passed it as a sophomore. IDK if your course is an honors level course or if you have a good teacher, because in that case, economics, which is basically how to optimize your life and understand what’s going on around you, can be a fantastic class to take in preparation for other high level courses

The math sequence varies by school, but what you’ve describes is more or less accurate. At our school trig is part of precalc.

Econ is only offered to juniors and seniors at my school. I’ve only taken macro. There is not a lot of math but can be confusing.

Out of curiosity, if you take AP Engl Lang as a sophomore, what do you take junior and senior years?

^There is AP English Literature to take.

Um. There’s another AP English, plus I have other AP classes I want to take. Yeah, I’m still on the rocks for economics next year. Might just hold off on it. I’ll probably end up picking AP English because I like a challenge and can’t stand what-if’s. I can always have my mom switch me out if the first two weeks or so get that bad. Thanks for all the help guys! :)
