Help with the ACT

Hey yall

Sadly I was born in an environment where my schools didn’t really care about academics. and so therefore I’am getting 16 on the act. And I have the test thine about a week or 2 and I need to do well in order for me to go into school. Pleas help me, what can I do, My mom is helping me on English, I have a math professor teaching me math. and I have a lot of book dedicated to the act. But I fell it may not be effective.

Can y’all help me out
P.s. I have transition to a new schools where expectation is a lot higher.

SO my principle took me a step back from education where i need to be. So it opens a lot of time study for me to study for the test.

From a score of 16-15

Goal 34 or above

  • Minimum 33
    Crazy Expectation 30 or above

I find that the ACT is
19 or Below = F
30 or Above = A

Agree?

Personally, I would aim a little bit lower considering how much of an improvement that is. An average increase for a student over taking multiple ACT’s only averages out to about a 3-4+ difference. If I were you I would try and aim for first a 20, then work your way up from there. Instead of having a tutor of a book, I would highly consider doing multiple practices tests so you can get a feel for the test, as well as learn your weaknesses and how to improve. Good luck!

@2018Graduate55 Ive tried it, But it goes up, then down, than up (little), then down

My mom told me don’t attempt the test with out knowing the concept. So now i;m no taking any test. So far the black book is really effective

Bump? as I dont’t want to loose this post

You really should work on your spelling and grammar. It will be difficult to perform well without an understanding of grammar rules.

@Deaston Thats 100 percent true, I’am working on that

@ACTscienceprep I’m a Senior. Yeah I know, And what about Reading and Science?

@sanimri7 For science, try For the Love of ACT Science book, it really breaks everything down clear and simple. For Reading, it’s really hard to improve your score with just some tips and tricks if you have difficultly reading. Try reading news articles, science articles, any kind of articles you can find online and ask yourself what is the main idea? What is the author trying to say?. If you can, get the big ACT 2017 prep guide by the ACT makers and do the reading practice tests. Being able to analyze and comprehend complex tests is important if you want 30+ (although you can get a 28-29 in reading if everything else is above 30). I wish you the best of luck. Like others have said, it’s probably not likely you’ll get such a big jump in such a short amount of time :frowning: But any improvement, I mean ANY, is good!!!

@Classicgirl17 thanks you so much classic girl

I bought a lot of books but didn’t have time to get through all. the black book was good, but you had to be strong at the base.
