So, I'm a freshman this year and I'm really frustrated about what I should be studying. I thought I wanted to be a biology major, but I'm not premed and I don't think I want to do research so that seems like kind of a dead end. Then, I was thinking international relations, but I'm taking a class in the government department and I'm just not all that into it.
I want to do something I like but that can also land me a job when I graduate. But also, I don't feel like I've had a chance really to explore. I haven't taken a psych class or an econ class yet.
I'm really interested in East Asian Studies but I'm afraid no one would ever hire me with a major like that. I feel I should have something more quantitative. What do you think?

Take an econ class, you might like it. Econ is quantitative but also a liberal arts major in that it requires a decent amount of reading and writing. You can take classes to do with the Asian and international economy if that suits your interests. And there’s the option of minoring in East Asian Studies, or possibly double majoring it with something more quantitative.
