I am a 22 year old looking for some post-secondary education advice. Being that I have been out of school for 5 years, I really don't have many resources available to me. More than anything, I would like some advise on what colleges I should consider. More importantly, what colleges will consider me. I should also add, that community college is not an option. I do support myself, and juggling work and school would be illogical.

My stats are:

GPA - 2.5 Academic GPA/ 2.25 Total GPA
I have no idea what my class rank is (I am sure it is bad)

SAT
MAT 760 CR 780 Writing 760

Specifically, I would like to know if there is ANY college in NY, NY that I would be able to get in. If not, any colleges in California?

I do not think you will have a difficult time getting into a college, but being a successful student and affording the tuition is another thing.

Just a few questions:

Community College is not an option–why not? It can be a very affordable way to complete core classes, then transfer to a university.

Will someone else be paying your tuition and living expenses? If not, how do you expect them to be paid?

Juggling work and school is NOT illogical–that is insulting to the many, many students who do this every day. It is far more illogical to go into a great deal of debt for your college expenses.

I have four children in college. My older children both work full-time and attend college full-time as well. (They maintain Dean’s List grades, too.) While they did graduate high school with excellent gpa’s, their SAT scores were not even close to yours. It certainly can be done–it just takes a lot of hard work, dedication and desire.

You have a lot of options available to you–many people do not go to college until later.
