What would be a better opportunity for the upcoming summer? I received an offer from The Motley Fool to be an investing intern this summer. I also received an offer from The Science and Engineering Apprenticeship program (SEAP) at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). Which would be a better thing to do this summer and why? I am looking at this from the viewpoint of which would be a better experience and which one would look better on college apps.

Thanks.

I don’t think you can go wrong, both are great choices. Your user name makes me think you want to study business… in which case the Motley Fool internship might be a better choice. But if you have an interest in majoring in a science/engineering area, pick the other one.

thanks intparent. when i made this account i wanted to go into business but now i am considering going into either field equally. bump for some more opinions

Here is another way to look at it. Will one of these internships give you a better look into what a career in that field would be like? My D went to an engineering program summer after junior year, partly because she thought she might want to major in engineering. And she wanted to get a better feeling for it before starting college. She decided she did NOT want to be an engineer after going to the camp, but that was a perfectly fine outcome. She still used the experience in a college applications, and was able to eliminate it from her list of possible majors (she is planning on a physics major instead). Exploring something to see if it is a career you are interested in is a very valid reason to pick one program over another. I kind of doubt you are going to get really specific feedback beyond this on these two options (they are not going to be common summer opportunities with a lot of participants).

Thank you so much for your help intparent. That is very good advice. I am probably going to go with Motley Fool.
