Hi,I’m a hispanic student thats trying to pursue engineering,I have a 3.67 weighted gpa and a 1650 sat.I’m looking to apply to at california or texas universites, however i live in california.,so will decrease my chances to applying out of state.Which schools will i have a chance to get in with a engineering major, please be honest.Schools that I would like to go is San Diego State,Un. of SD,Texas A&M,UT,Baylor,Texas Tech,UCSB,Northrdge. Thanks your guys responses really appreciated
I think you could do some reading on the texas schools, I personally would nix UT and A&M off your list because you are OOS and probably don’t have the right profile (I assume that the SAT is your total?). Can you afford OOS schools? You need to make sure that the schools you look at are affordable (run net price calculators) and you fit the student profile (common data sets). Check out the WUE. Engineering is often a competitive major even when the general school profile isn’t. You might want to check schools where your GPA and SAT is more the norm. If cal schools are making it cost effective to look OOS, you really need to know your budget.
Welcome to CC. A good rule to follow in forums is to title your posts with more detail besides the uninformative “help” – you’ll get more looks and thus, possible replies.
What is your budget? OOS schools will be expensive. What is your SAT breakdown? What is your UC/CSU GPA? How is your HS course rigor? What type of Engineering? Some engineering are easier admits than others.

Based on above information:
UCSB: Reach
USD/SDSU: Low Reach
CSUN: Match (although last year they only accepted local applicants)
